Hi everybody, welcome back to my blog! Today's I will be talking about the Houston government's initiatives to end homelessness in our city!
According to their website, "The Mayor’s Office for Homeless Initiatives (MOHI) manages the City of Houston’s response to homelessness by coordinating the efforts of various City agencies, including the Housing and Community Development Department, the Health and Human Services Department, the Houston Police Department and others. The MOHI develops best practice-oriented public policy for the City of Houston, while guiding the City’s participation in ongoing regional planning activities."

Over the past few years, this office has been working to help boost one of Houston's solutions to homelessness by supporting local homeless organizations and shelters. The MOHI supports The Way Home (TWH), a private, charitable, religious, local housing program in Houston. The MOHI coordinates with The Way Home and its many supporting organizations, including its lead agency, the Coalition for the Homeless. These local agencies have worked to decrease and prevent homelessness throughout Houston over the past years. To learn more about The Way Home, check out my recent post about this housing program and donate to their website! Have an amazing day, and remember these people are "homeless not hopeless".
