THE WAY HOME: Houston's Housing Program

Hi guys and welcome back to my blog! Today's post will be talking about a housing program called The Way Home.

The Way Home (TWH) is one of Houston's main solution to solving homelessness. As of today the TWH program consists of 100 partnering agencies working in a collaborative effort to help reduce and prevent homelessness in Houston. Working together since 2012, homeless non-profits, the Houston government, homeless services, and many more homeless agencies, have been polishing their programs to benefit the many homeless people and families in our community. According to these agencies the solution to stop homelessness is to provide supportive services, which includes counseling in substance use, health care, etc, and permanent housing to these unsheltered individuals. Over the past few years' homelessness in Houston counties has dropped about 54 %. With this program, TWH has housed, with and 84 % success rate, more than 17,000 people throughout Harris, Fort-Bend, and Montgomery counties.
